Allen Dines is a co-founder of the Midwest Research University Network, which fosters regional cooperation in the commercialization of university research through new business creation. He is assistant director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Corporate Relations (OCR), helping the business community access the diverse resources of the university.

Dines joined the university in 2001, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in industry and technology management. He co-founded and served as president/CEO of two technology companies: MitoScan, a biosensor company, and BioRenewal Technologies, Inc., an environmental biotechnology company that was acquired by a major testing laboratory. Other posts include
director of business development at Agracetus, Inc. and Booz, Allen & Hamilton, where he specialized in technology management in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

At the Office of Corporate Relations, his responsibilities include outreach to business and industry, promoting local and regional economic growth through technology transfer of UW-Madison research and maintaining and building local, regional and national cooperative relationships for the university. Dines was named a Wisconsin Idea Fellow in 2004 by the president of the UW system. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan including a B.S, an MBA, and a Master of Regional Planning in Natural Resources.
