CHARLIE KUEHMANN, PH.D.QuesTek Innovations LLC Dr. Charlie Kuehmann is President and CEO of QuesTek Innovations LLC, a company which he co-founded in 1996. Charlie and his colleagues at QuesTek are recognized global leaders in computer-aided systems design of new materials for commercial applications, to reduce environmental impact, extend service life or provide other performance improvements that yield a competitive advantage. QuesTek develops and refines advanced proprietary computer models of phase transformations and kinetics, designs high-performance alloys using those models, and then commercially implements patented or proprietary new materials in partnership with alloy producers. Charlie and his colleagues at QuesTek have developed ultra-high-strength steels, advanced commercial gear and bearing steels, and high-performance stainless steels such as Ferrium ® S53 ® corrosion-resistant steel for aerospace applications (eliminating carcinogenic cadmium plating) and Ferrium ® C61 and C69 steels for gear and bearing applications. QuesTek is a privately-held company based in Evanston, IL. Charlie received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 1994, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Arizona State University in 1988. He has been awarded 10 U.S. patents, is a Fellow of ASM International, and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the 2003 Pollution Prevention Project of the Year Award from the U.S. Department of Defense's Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program . |
