In-Pipe Technology
Sustainable Water and Land Management Breakout
Dan Williamson is co-founder and president of In-Pipe Technology Company of Wheaton , Illinois . In-Pipe provides engineered wastewater treatment technology and services that meet the escalating challenges facing today's municipalities. In-Pipe's patented technology and engineered solutions help customers achieve environmental compliance, eliminate noxious odors and corrosion, lessen the impact of fats, oils and grease, reduce operating costs and maximize return on capital expenditures.
Williamson has been involved in the purification and wastewater treatment industries since 1980, and has a background in biochemistry, cellular biology, and molecular genetics. Throughout his career, the volumes of liquids treated have increased while the value of the liquids per gallon has decreased. This experience has provided a valuable perspective on differentiating ‘low margin, high efficiency' treatment technologies. In-Pipe Technology's patented process represents both a fundamental shift and substantial improvement in the methods and economics of wastewater treatment. In-Pipe begins by treating wastewater upstream in the far reaches of the sewer system, closer to the source, rather than waiting until the wastewater arrives at the treatment plant. This innovative approach enables In-Pipe to take full advantage of the natural retention time in the sewer and the immense biofilm in the miles of sewer piping, rapidly and efficiently pretreating the wastewater en-route to the plant. The Company is generating technical data confirming biochemical impacts on the wastewater process, specifically regarding nutrient removal, energy savings, and increased plant capacity. This work has significant implications for national wastewater treatment and reuse strategies. |
