Sustainable Water and Land Management Breakout
David Mullan is the Regional Manager of Sheaffer International, an environmental development company dedicated to providing innovative, sustainable, and environmentally friendly solutions for wastewater management. He is involved in Sheaffer System planning and feasibility studies, business development, and economic and financial analysis. The Sheaffer System reclaims wastewater in a series of deep, aerated ponds. The ponds, or “cells”, typically provide at least 36 days of aerobic (high O 2 ) treatment, after which the reclaimed water is filtered and disinfected prior to irrigation. A variety of irrigation methods may be employed, depending on the need. Adequate storage is provided for the reclaimed water for the winter months, when irrigation does not occur. The Sheaffer System is a patented technology with over 25 years of successful operation and customer satisfaction.
Mullan also leads the firm's broader stormwater management and sustainable water supply activities. Recent experience includes the Stormwater Management Policy for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County and the Dual Water Supply Concept Plan for Cedar City , Utah .
Mullan has over 35 years experience in the water resource and economic development fields. His experience ranges from international development as Project Manger of the USAID technology transfer programs for Poland and Hungary from 1993-1995, to consultation with the Economic Development Commission of the City of Chicago . He is a graduate of Michigan State University with bachelor's in economics, and a master's in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management. |
